There are a number of factors that influence a decision to change careers. When the motivation comes from within it is usually to satisfy a need for change. Perhaps the worker who seeks a new career feels that the contributions he or she might make within their field are limited. By changing his or her approach to employment, an individual might be trying to increase earning potential. If someone ha been employed in a particular position for an extended period of time, the earnings ceiling might be a reality for them. When the change is sought from within there is an excitement and anticipation associated with the transition. People that are on a path they control are willing to embrace the idea and apply the change.

When the change is propelled by factors outside the individual control, there is a different set of emotions attached to the move. Some people are comfortable working in the same position for a lifetime. When economic conditions or other employment realities force a change, it is unlikely that it will be welcomed warmly. Enrolling in NCLEX training is one way to enter a field that holds promise for future employment. The medical field is one that generally performs well under a variety of prevailing economic conditions. As long as people continue to get sick there will be a need for goods and services in this sector.
