The stress is getting to you – you can feel it in everything you do. Your jaw’s tight, your shoulders ache… if you could just get some time alone to hear yourself think, it would all be all right.
Everyone knows that stress can be highly detrimental to one’s health – so don’t let it go so far that you end up in hospital or on meds. Take a look at your life and start reducing the stress triggers around you. Also take time to nurture yourself. Whether it’s taking a day off to do one of your favourite things like antiquing and window shopping or getting a massage and facial – be good to yourself. Putting off treating yourself well will ultimately be no good for anyone, because how can you care for others when your own well is dry?
Whether it’s unplugging the phone and taking a hot bath, or borrowing a friend’s horse for a long ride in the woods – look at the things in life that make you feel good, and do them. And when you need time alone and away, then take it. Book that solo trip you’ve always wanted to take. Remember your old dream of taking a Lake District holiday to just paint and hike? Take that time for yourself because let’s face it, life is short.
And in the therapeutic quiet of solitude you’ll have time to reflect on all the good in your life. You’ll have the peace and quiet needed to recharge. It won’t take long and it doesn’t need to cost a bundle – but it’s not something to put off, either. Go on, get happy.
